Being a Global Citizen

I am proud that I was a Middle school Global Citizenship ambassador throughout my whole time in Middle School. Its 5 strands – Service, Sustainability, Intercultural Understanding, Diversity, and Social Justice – all speak into my heart. We all have a part to play, because we are all a citizen of, not just our country, but also the world. Let’s use our voice and our actions to make our world a more cohesive and harmonized place.

Promoting Diversity at school

This is a movie night I led at school with help from a few fellow Global Citizenship ambassadors. I choose the movie “Hidden Figures” because it is an epitome of promoting Diversity, Intercultural understanding, and Gender equality. The event was a huge success! I learnt a lot through leading communications and promotion to the students. Isn’t my poster cool?

GC Leadership

I am currently a Global Citizenship prefect, where I coordinate larger GC events like Social Justice week and Earth week. During Social Justice week, my team and I conducted a Social Justice art competition where we invited students to portray their perceptions of Social Justice through paintings and quick art.

Along with being a GC prefect, I am also president of the Interact service club (the high school version of the worldwide service network: Rotary). Recently, we have been collaborating with Italian interactors by making tutorial videos with them for a charity that supports children with Autism. Additionally, we had a trash cleanup session where both our clubs went out of school to contribute to each of our communities. Interviewing Guests from all over the world

I am interning as a leader of our school’s student media channel: DTV. Whenever a guest comes visit, I am eager to interview them. I enjoy listening to their unique stories and learn from how they are succeeding in their career.

For my first interview, I proposed to interview our guest speaker: prestigious environmentalist Celine Cousteau. Through my conversation with her, I truly realized that sustainability does not have to be a career, but a way of living. This interview became the first DTV segment posted on the school’s official social media. Traveling

Being able to explore different parts of the world made me have intercultural understanding. I love getting to know people of diverse cultures and traditions. It always fascinates me when I get the chance to understand the life of a person from another side of the earth.
